Doulas should be actively engaged in continuing education, and be able to articulate how, and why, what they’re learning provides benefit to you.

Our Doula Services

Prior to raising my family, I worked in marketing for almost 10 years at The Charlotte Observer, The Gaston Gazette and The Winston-Salem Journal. I attended Phillips Academy in Andover, MA and then earned a degree in business from Wake Forest University. I studied Japanese and Spanish in college and doula for families in English and Spanish. Since starting doula work, my hope for our community has become much clearer. My hope is to use all my training, experience, and passion to help you throughout this new journey.

I was a Doula for 10 years before becoming a mom myself and my own birth completed the circle for me of divine birthing. I have two boys (unless they tell me otherwise) and each birth was very different...medicated and natural childbirth. I authored my first pregnancy book, journal and birth story book with birth affirmations in 2020 in conjunction with Dr. Thorp of UNC-Chapel Hill. BirthStory.com I hope your childbirth story may become part of my collection of birth stories. She gives women the support they need to have the personal life, pregnancy experience, and family life that they have always wanted and deserve.

I don't simply check in on my clients occasionally, but rather, I provide continuous resources specific to their pregnancy and I pray for them often. The birth of our second son was incredibly empowering and a large part of that was having a doula present. I knew immediately that I wanted to become a birth doula and walk with other women and their families on their journey. I offer continuous informational, emotional, physical, and spiritual support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

It is an honor to be a part of each and every birth and I consider it a blessing to be able to serve as a doula. I founded Wild Mother Path to help nurture women in their pregnancy and postpartum period so they thrive and step into motherhood with confidence. I started my work serving women as a registered nurse in a NICU where I saw firsthand many women struggling in postpartum. A doula team also guarantees you a fresh doula at your side—there are no time limits, even in the event of an extended labor. Should your doula begin to feel less capable of being fully present and alert, your other doula can jump in, offering new energy and ideas to support you and your partner.

Meet the Charlotte, NC Doula Dream Team

I've worked specifically with women, people with high blood pressure, diabetes, as well as the general population. I was also in full-time ministry, working with college students and teenagers. In that capacity, I learned to meet people where they're at, to comfort and to hold space for someone. These experiences brought me to a new understanding of wholeness - body, mind, and spirit.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

My name is Shannon, and I am a holistic doula in Charlotte, North Carolina. I believe in support for all women during this transformational time. I aim to bring back a lost art in our culture today of women supporting women that I was lucky to have been a part of growing up. I will be part of your support system and a grounding birth companion.

This set me up perfectly to team up alongside families in their birth journeys. An herbalist, yogi, mother of 1 human, 2 furbabies and about 60 plant babies give or take. I came into the birth world after a transformative prenatal yoga teacher training experience that left me with the deepest desire to support women during their own transformative journeys into motherhood.
